Year 4 enjoyed a visit from a Roman soldier; a perfect introduction to their new topic ‘The Romans Are Coming!’
They had fun exploring all of the equipment Romans soldiers used including armor and weapons. The children also had a go at marching and shield formations. It provided them with a great opportunity to ask questions and get an insight into what they will be learning about over the coming weeks.
This memorable experience will be the basis for lots more interesting learning experiences such as:
*Writing speeches
*Designing shields using symmetry
*Using animation software to remake the defeat of Boudica
*Making mosaics
*Writing and recording news reports
