As part of their topic ‘The Romans Are Coming,’ Year 4 have been busy designing Roman forts. They first worked out the area and perimeter of each building that traditionally made a fort and then plotted this out onto squared paper.
The children chose to then make a 3D model of their forts on Minecraft. They worked in small groups and decided which materials would best be suited to each building type. Next, they added lots of details including Latin signs, horses, flowers and fountains.
The children then recorded a tour of their forts. Finally, they used iMovie to add on an advertising voice over. They used persuasive techniques they had learnt during English sessions to sell their forts to prospective buyers.
